LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) Zach Johnson had another "boring" day on the course. Not that that's a bad thing
for a player who relates boring to efficient.
Coming off an unexpected victory last week in the Texas Open, the 2007 Masters champion shot a 10-under 62 on Thursday for a share of the first round lead with Mare Turnesa in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals far Children Open.
The two held a one-shot lead over four players who each shot 9-under 62.
Biddeford native Casey Bourque, making his first domestic PGA Tour appearance, shot 2-under 70,and is in a tie for 83rd place, as the second round began today.
Bourque, who is now a club professional living in Phoenix, Ariz., and who earned his way into the Open via a qualifying tournament, shot 3-under-33 on the front nine, but was 1-over 37 after the turn. Getting off to a stron start, Bourque shot par on the first hole, then birdied the next three.
Bourque improved to 5-under with a birdie on No.16, but struggled after that and finished with a bogey and double-bogey on the last two holes."
